Ford, Gerald R., and Betty Ford, 1975 - 1991, bulk: 1975 - 1983

The Gerald R. Ford VIP File includes black and white photographs, as well as a few color photographs, from several visits by President Ford and First Lady Betty Ford to Dayton, as well as elsewhere in Ohio. In addition to Dayton, cities include Cincinnati, Columbus, and Middletown.

Notable individuals photographed with President Ford included: Congressman Charles W. Whalen, Jr.; Robert Taft; James H. McGee, Dayton mayor; Charles Simms, Montgomery County Commissioner; James A. Rhodes, Ohio governor; Congressman David Albritton; Perry Como;

The most voluminous file is for a campaign visit that President Ford made to Dayton in June 1976, including a parade in an open car and a speech at the Old Courthouse.

Many of the Ford's visits to Dayton were actually to participate the Bogie Busters celebrity golf tournament, which he did several times in the late 1970s and early 1980s. There are also two files for speaking engagements in Dayton in 1986 and 1991.

The Betty Ford File includes black and white photographs from a campaign visit by First Lady Betty Ford to Dayton in May 1976, including a speech at Dayton's Old Courthouse.
