Subseries II-E: Journal Herald Alpha Numeric Files (ANP and ANC), circa 1930s - circa 1980s

This subseries is arranged using an alpha-numeric filing system unique to the Journal Herald (Dayton Daily News). Topics have been assigned an alpha-numeric code (e.g., 37h is restaurants, 80 is sports, etc.). There is a a card file index (converted to a database by Wright State) available in the archives to aid in using this series. The database indicates the alpha-numeric code under which a topic search term may be found.

This subseries was physically subdivided according to photographs versus clippings by archives staff, for preservation reasons. All of the clippings are in one set of boxes (522 LF, box prefix code ANC), and the photographs are in another set of boxes (77 LF, prefix code ANP). Within each of the two sets of boxes, the files are arranged alph-numerically as described above. Furthermore, oversize photographs in this subseries can be found in several 13" x 16" oversize boxes (5 LF, prefix OSBA), as well as 2 oversize drawers (OSD).
