 Collection
Identifier: SC-158

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of an Aviators Flight Log Book for Ensign James Alfred Andrews Jr., U. S. Navy Reserve, and two 4’x 6” black and white photographs. The flight log spans the period January 2, 1943 to January 26, 1944. The record specifies the dates of flights, type and number of machine, duration of flight, character of the flight, pilot, passengers, and remarks concerning the flight. There is a table inside the front cover explaining the codes for the character of the flight.

Inside the front cover of the log book is a “Flight Clothing Record Mandatory Items” list indicating flight clothing and date issued to Ensign Andrews. Inside the back cover is a “Flight Clothing Record Optional Items” list detailing optional flight clothing issued to Ensign Andrews.

The two 4” x 6” black and white photographs are photographs of a group of Naval pilots seated around a table, possibly at the Officers’ Club. The names of the officers seated at the table are written on the reverse of the photograph.
